This article describes you use of chock in motor bikes and how it works.When your motorcycle is cold , and if there is starting issue with your bike , Then we use chock ,we put the chock in ON position , starts the bike and release it back to OFF position. Use of chock facilitates the start up and warming of the engine.
Explanation : The Function of chock is to regulate Air / Fuel mixture during engine startup. When we put the chock in ON position, In realty we closing air intake , which changes the proportion of mixture that reaches the engine , making it a lot richer to allow easy start of your bike.The richer fuel mixture burns easily in cold engine.
The chock lever may be located anywhere in your bike depending on the make and model. it might be located at left side of the handlebar by the grip or at the carburetor itself.
Caution : Chock helps in easy start of your bike, but it is very important that you use the chock for the minimum time possible . You should keep chock On for couple of minutes, then just wait till your engine warms up. Extended use of the chock can damage longevity of engine.
